As 2024 comes to a close, I had the opportunity to talk with Maddyness and Sifted to share OneRagtime vision of this year's challenges and what lies ahead in 2025.

According to Sifted, French startups raised just €3 billion in the second half of the year, down 50% on the €5.9 billion raised in the first half of 2024. This slowdown affects all stages of financing, from seed to growth rounds. But beyond the figures, 2024 marked a transitional stage for French Tech.

The hype of past years has given way to a more reasoned approach, with entrepreneurs and investors adapting their expectations to a more demanding market. We've seen a refocusing on solid fundamentals: sustainable business models, better control of resources and a clear trajectory towards potential exits.

And this is exactly OneRagtime's approach since 2017: humble entrepreneurs reaching for the stars, hyper-growth combined with profitability, exits to give back performance to our investors, efficiency of capital invested.

In 2025, we will focus our efforts on :
- AI agents, tailored to specific sectors such as healthcare, real estate, sales or insurance.
- Frugal and ethical AI, which values transparency in data use and is part of a responsible and sustainable approach.
- Fintech models with a sustainable impact
- Innovative and capital-efficient marketplaces

We will also continue to focus on startups capable of rapid internationalization, particularly in the US. In a context of persistent economic uncertainty, diversifying markets right from the seed stage is key to securing growth relays and strengthening companies' international DNA.

Thanks to Maddyness (Manon Triniac) and Sifted (Daphné Leprince-Ringuet) for these articles.

Onward to 2025 and Merry Christmas to all!
